Transport of STEMI Patients - Update
2010-03-19
To clarify the procedure for STEMI patient transports:
For Transports to Florida Hospitals:
Field units will contact Seminole County Communications when a “bedside” STEMI is identified. The field will provide the Communications Center with destination hospital and the patient’s cardiologist, if they have one.
The Communications Center will make a call directly to FLH’s Flight Transfer Team, who in turn will dispatch the helicopter, notify patient’s cardiologist (if they have seen one), notify the cath lab, and notify the ED of the pending arriving STEMI.
FLH Flight Transfer Team phone #: 407-303-1610.
For Transports to South Seminole Hospital or Central Florida Regional Hospital:
Field units will contact Seminole County Communications when a “bedside” STEMI is identified. The field will provide the Communications Center with destination hospital and the patient’s cardiologist, if they have one.
The Communications Center will then call the receiving hospital’s ED directly and notify them of the incoming STEMI transport. The ED will notify the cath lab and the cardiologist. The Communications Center will also place a call to Air Care’s Dispatch Center, 321-841-6185, who will in turn dispatch the helicopter.
In Summary:
Field units will contact the Communications Center on all STEMI transports and indicate which hospital they will be transporting to and the patient’s cardiologist, if they have one.
The field unit will contact the destination hospital by radio and give a complete report starting with the identification of a “STEMI Alert”
The Communications Center will call the appropriate facility, per above, and make notification of the STEMI transport to their facility.
