Section 8 - MEDICATION GUIDELINES

ANTICONVULSANT

Keppra / Levetiracetam

DESCRIPTION / ACTION:

  • Anticonvulsant for Traumatic Brain Injury patients.

INDICATIONS:

  • TBI in the Adult or Pediatric Patient

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

  • Hypersensitivity or allergy

DOSE:

  • For adults, 1 gram IV or IO push
  • For pediatrics, 20 mg/kg IV or IO push. May repeat at 40 mg/kg
  • Max dose of 1 gram.
